An Institute Born of a Shared Need
In a globalised world, family relationships increasingly touch more than one legal system. The Institute was born of the need felt by experts in this field for a common ground of knowledge and solidarity.
International divorces, cross-border custody disputes, international child abduction cases and the legal problems of multinational families have become part of the daily practice of today's family lawyer. Yet the knowledge produced in this field is often scattered and hard to access.
The Institute set out to bring this scattered body of knowledge together, to deepen it through a comparative lens and to make it available to everyone working in the field. Our founding process is being shaped with the contribution of colleagues and academics from different countries.
The Institute's milestones will be published on the timeline on this page as the founding process is completed.
