About Us
An International Perspective on Family Law
The International Institute of Family Law Practitioners is an academic and professional umbrella organisation established to produce and share knowledge on the cross-border dimensions of family law and to strengthen international cooperation.
The Institute brings lawyers, academics, mediators, children's rights specialists and related institutions together under one roof. Our purpose is to produce reliable knowledge on the international dimensions of family law and to make it available to the professional community and the public.
Our work proceeds along the lines of comparative legal research, academic publications, training and certificate programmes, international events and institutional partnerships. The Institute does not provide individual legal services; it operates as an independent, academic centre.
Our international character is not merely geographic breadth but a methodological choice: by examining the experience of different legal systems comparatively, we aim to contribute to a better understanding of each system in its own context.
